The UK Afrobeat scene continues to reach higher heights and kick down barriers that were once hard for other artist to break. But with the social media influence making their music globally accessible and the consistency of new music from artist on the rise, mainstream labels and indie labels are starting to pay attention and alarm bells are officially starting to ring as the world is now zoned into to the UK Afrosound. With so much new talent coming up it was only right we highlighted some of the ones who are on our Afro District radar.

Afro Dancehall artist Jaij Holland has been grabbing the attention of many across the UK and beyond. Known for his deep raspy vocals, this producer turned artist has definitely been representing for the new gen in the Afrobeat scene. He released his first single ‘Everday Afrobeats’ then followed that up with the crowd favorite ‘Pinga’ in 2015 – featuring UK based African music group NSG, which racked up more than 500,000 hits on Youtube and had even got the attention of BET award winner Stonebwoy, who jumped on the remix. Gaining a voluminous amount of support from the single, the self proclaimed Amsterdam Kubolor released his ‘Iray Buju’ freestyle which acquired a lot of attention, with fans from all over the globe creating dance flash mobs making it a viral hit. Adding CEO to his title, Jaij has his own Label called IRAY MVMT consisting of producers and artist who are also ready to make their own mark in the scene. With his first headline show ‘Iray Buju’ taking place at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on 11th August, this young man is next in line for greatness.
